Sunseeker, the British design icon

Founded in Poole in 1969, Sunseeker established itself as the most recognisable design signature in British motor yachting. The Predator, Manhattan and new Ocean ranges define an opulent, sporty aesthetic immediately identifiable on the water.

The yard now produces around 150 annual units, with strong presence in the 65-161 ft segment. Clientele is international — predominantly British, American and Middle Eastern.

Pre-owned market: opportunities and pitfalls

Sunseeker Predator 60/68: highly desirable sport cruisers, €800,000-1,700,000 at 3-5 years. Manhattan 66/68: family flybridges, €1,200,000-2,100,000. Sunseeker 76/86 Yacht: long-range cruising, €2,800,000-6,500,000.

Watch out for units with intensive charter history: general wear, multiple owners, sometimes deferred maintenance. Our standard survey includes a charter-use report where applicable.

Refit and upgrades: controlled value-add

A Sunseeker aged 8-10 years with a full refit (upholstery, nav electronics, audio, hull paint) typically gains €200,000-400,000 in perceived value for a €150,000-250,000 refit cost. A smart play to land a well-kept unit at an attractive price.

We assist with refit estimates, introductions to Mediterranean yards (La Ciotat, Antibes, Palma) and works supervision.

« Our Sunseeker Manhattan 68 bought in Antibes after 5 months of search. Martin walked away from three units with shaky charter histories. Zero regret two years on. »

Which size?

FAQ

New or pre-owned?+

2-5 year pre-owned: best prestige/value ratio, immediate delivery. New: full customisation, yard warranty, 12-24 month lead time on larger hulls.

Do I need a survey?+

Always for pre-owned. Hull + machinery surveys: €4,000-€10,000 depending on size. Non-negotiable before signing.

Which flag should I choose?+

Cayman, Malta, Marshall Islands are the most common. Choice depends on use (private vs charter), tax position, and intended cruising area.

New Sunseeker vs 2-3 year pre-owned?+

A 2-3 year unit costs 25-35% less than new, is immediately deliverable (vs 18-24 months yard lead) and benefits from early warranty fixes already applied.

Is Red Ensign flag advantageous?+

Yes for international resale and pleasure-craft tax treatment. It requires a Red Ensign agent and a technical survey on flag transfer.

Predator 68 fuel consumption?+

About 240-280 L/h at 25 knots, 90-120 L/h at 12 knots in economic cruise. Budget €50-70k/year on fuel for average use (250h).
